Kenny Jacobs moved to Omaha from South Dakota in September 2015 after spending 6 years as a public defender. He currently specializes in cases involving criminal defense, juvenile law, and domestic cases such as divorce and paternity case.
Kenny has worked on a variety of cases involving Traffic/Driving Offenses, DWI/DUI, Assault, Drug Possession and Distribution . He has also had jury trials involving Murder 1st Degree, Aggravated Assault, and multiple DWI cases. In February of 2014, he successfully argued a motion to keep the state’s expert from using the term “abusive head trauma” at trial in the death of an 18-month old child.
In addition to approximately 20 jury trials, he has had numerous bench trials as well as experience arguing pretrial motions.
Kenny Jacobs is a 2009 graduate of University of South Dakota School of Law and a previous graduate of Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri.
At USD he was active in the R.D. Hurd Family Law Clinic. He also interned at the Federal Public Defenders office in Omaha, Nebraska in 2008. Through the 2008 & 2009 school year, he interned at the Minnehaha County Public Defenders Office in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. For volunteer work throughout law school, Kenny was awarded the first annual R.D. Hurd Pro Bono Student of the Year Award in 2009.
Upon graduation from USD in May of 2009, he accepted a position at the Minnehaha County Public Defenders Office where he remained for 6 years.
Kenny is currently an active member in the Nebraska Criminal Defense Attorney Association as well as the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
